amb kine_891First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the Ambassador of China to Belgrade, Mr. Li Manchang.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction at the results of the visit Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic made to China. Deepening and strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed.

Minister Dacic stressed the importance of relations with China, from the support on the most important issues to concrete forms of cooperation, highlighting China’s role in its capacity as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The Minister informed Ambassador Li of the vulnerability of the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija and the unacceptability of Kosovo’s UNESCO membership application.

Ambassador Li assessed that the relations between the two states are on the constant rise, and the agreements on new investment projects announced during the visit of the Serbian President to China testify to this fact. He presented Chinese positions concerning UN reform, and the related reform of the UN Security Council.

An interest in the development of cooperation in all areas where the two countries can recognize the potential for joint results was expressed. Moreover, it was assessed that the role of the UN in the maintenance of global peace, on the eve of marking the 70th anniversary of this Organization’s existence, continued to be indispensable.
