tunis 2First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today a farewell call from the Ambassador of Tunisia to the Republic of Serbia, HE Mr Majid Hamlaoui.

Minister Dacic thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations, wishing at the same time that the good cooperation and relations be continued in the future. He conveyed the hope that the established dynamic of high and top-level visits would be maintained and, in this context, highlighted the successful visit of President Tomislav Nikolic to Tunisia in March 2014, arranged on the occasion of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of WWI outbreak.

While reflecting upon the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Serbia, including the maintenance and strengthening of traditional bonds of friendship, the Serbian Head of diplomacy expressed his thanks for the consistent position of Tunisia on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.

Ambassador Hamlaoui was particularly grateful for Serbian solidarity after the recent terrorist attacks, pointing out the courage of Serbian tourists who continued to visit Tunisia. Messages of condolence from President Nikolic, National Assembly Speaker Gojkovic, Prime Minister Vucic and Minister Dacic himself were understood as a moral and amicable support to the Tunisian people. While extending his congratulations on the Serbian OSCE Chairmanship in 2015, the Ambassador concluded that the Serbian diplomacy found its place at the international scene and came back to where it rightfully belonged. He thanked the state leadership of the Republic of Serbia for their kindness and hospitality, as well as people of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their assistance and support during his tenure.

Minister Dacic wished Ambassador Hamlaoui successful continuation of his professional career, conveying the belief that the successful cooperation would be continued with full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
