dacic zarifFirst Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic received today a farewell call from Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of UNMIK Farid Zarif.

Bearing in mind that SRSG’s term would come to an end soon, Minister Dacic expressed his special gratitude for his efforts in the implementation of the UNMIK mandate and the coordination of the international presence in Kosovo and Metohija, despite constant challenges.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of engagement of UNMIK towards the creation of the basic preconditions for the peaceful coexistence of ethnic communities in the Province and security and respect for the fundamental human and civil rights of all its inhabitants.

He expressed his expectation that UNMIK would continue to discharge its mandate in accordance with UNSC resolution 1244 (1999), especially in areas relevant to the survival and normal and dignified life for Serbs and other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija.
