In the talks they emphasized the importance of Serbia and Israel strengthening cooperation in the area of researching and remembering the Holocaust and war crimes, at a time when a trend of its relativization is gaining ground and prominence. The Head of Serbian diplomacy underlined that the “Old Fairground” project bears equal significance for both peoples of Serbia and Israel, considering that Serbian people have yet to make their sufferings, including in Jasenovac, Kragujevac, and Old Fairground, prominent enough in the world, and properly recognized by that very world.

Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre Efraim Zuroff expressed his gratitude to the Serbian Government for supporting the “Old Fairground” state project that the youth from the whole world would be able to visit, and by doing so, gain knowledge on the Holocaust.
