Chairperson of the African Union Commission Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma is visiting Serbia, at the invitation of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic.

Following the meeting, Minister Dacic has pointed out that this highest-level visit in the history of relations between Serbia and the African Union results from the years-long participation of the delegations of the Republic of Serbia in the African Union summits, and the advancement of overall cooperation between Serbia and the Commission of the African Union and its Member States.
The Serbian Foreign Minister and the Chairperson of the AU Commission noted the progress of Serbia – AU Commission cooperation, continuation of a high-level successful political dialogue and the readiness for the development of economic cooperation in particular.
With this aim in mind, Minister Dacic and the Chairperson of the AU Commission signed today the Memorandum on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Commission of the African Union. The Memorandum envisages programmes of cooperation in areas of agriculture, science and education, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and other fields of mutual interest.
Moreover, the current state of political relations and partnership between Serbia and AU Member States were considered in the meeting; the interlocutor was informed about the foreign policy activities and priorities of the Republic of Serbia, maintenance of support to Serbia's policy vis-à-vis Kosovo and Metohija and our international initiatives concerning this issue has been requested, possibilities of the enhancement of cooperation in individual bodies of the African Union have been considered, participation of the SAF members in the UN peacekeeping operations in Africa, Serbia's participation in programmes of post-conflict rehabilitation in certain African countries and views were exchanged on the most topical international issues of mutual interest.
