First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received Ambassador Ernst Reichel, plenipotentiary of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Southeast Europe, Turkey and EFTA countries, who is visiting Belgrade to attend the Conference “Democratic Governance and Public Administration Reform in the Western Balkans”, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Aspen Institute Germany.
Minister Dacic underlined Serbia’s readiness to develop and enhance its overall cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany, where an important role is played by continuation of the political dialogue. The Serbian Foreign Minister recalled the recent visit of German Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeir, emphasizing that Serbia was greatly encouraged by his approach to Serbia’s European integration process. Minister Dacic further underscored Serbia’s full readiness for the negotiation process on Serbia’s EU membership and expressed his expectation that the FR of Germany would positively evaluate the policy of the Serbian Government concerning the implementation of internal reforms, participation in the dialogue with Pristina, contribution to the regional stability and that the first negotiation chapters would soon be opened. The talks also dealt with convening the “Conference on the Western Balkans”, initiated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in Vienna, on 27 August 2015. Serbia’s OSCE Chairmanship and joint cooperation within the OSCE Troika were also discussed. |
