First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the delegation of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, headed by Director of the Institution’s Academic Committee, Yang Jiemian.
At today’s meeting, reference was made to the influence of traditional friendship between the two peoples on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the PR of China, whose development gained a new dimension in the strategic partnership process. They underlined the importance of Serbia’s engagement in the mechanism of cooperation between the PR of China and Central and Eastern European countries and the potential of this mechanism in the framework of the Chinese project of creating the transport/trade corridor – “Economic part of the Silk road and the maritime Silk road for the 21st century”. Minister Dacic underlined the importance of Serbia’s relations with the PR of China, ranging from the support of the issues of vital interest for the specific forms of cooperation. He particularly singled out the role of the PR of China in promoting global economic progress and building a more equitable international order. The Shanghai Institute for International Studies is one of the major think-thanks in China and in the world, also having an advisory role in formulating the strategic directions in foreign policy, the activities related to modernization of the country and its security policy. |
