sastanak oebsThe Second OSCE Annual Meeting of contact persons for UNSC resolution 1540 was held in Belgrade, on 27 May 2015, chaired by Ambassador Branka Latinovic, Chairperson of the Working Group for the implementation of NAP 1540. In addition to contact persons for UNSC resolution 1540 from the OSCE region, the participants included members of the UNSC 1540 Committee and its experts, representatives of the OSCE, UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), representatives of the UN Inter-regional Legal and Criminal Research Institute (UNICRI) and representatives of Montenegro, as the Chair of the OSCE Security Cooperation Forum. On behalf of Serbia, as the OSCE Chair, the participants were addressed by the Head of the Working Group for OSCE Chairmanship, Ambassador Dejan Sahovic, who outlined the activities of the Republic of Serbia as the OSCE Chair, particularly in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation.

The meeting also discussed new initiatives and exchanged views on the implementation of UNSC resolution 1540 in the OSCE region, underlining the importance attached by the OSCE to non-proliferation issues and particularly provision of expert assistance and support of states from the OSCE region in the adoption and implementation of their respective National Action Plans. Representatives of the attending states and those of UNSC Committee 1540 underlined the importance of continuously supporting the OSCE in the adoption and implementation of National Action Plans. By organizing this meeting, the Republic of Serbia contributed to the implementation of UNSC resolution 1540 and the exchange of experiences among the OSCE participating States concerning the adoption and implementation of NAPs for the implementation of the Resolution.
