Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America Djerdj Matkovic visited Chicago between 14 and 15 May 2015, where he met with representatives of the Serbian community. On the occasion, Ambassador Matkovic visited the Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Serbian-American Museum “Saint Sava” and the “Saint Sava” Academy, and was also informed about the work of the only school in Chicago that holds classes in the Serbian language. Special emphais was laid on the opportunities for the enhancement of economic ties between the Diaspora and the home country. In this context, Ambassador Matkovic made a visit to PMI Cartoning Inc.,
Elk Grove Village, which expressed its interest in investing in Serbia. Moreover, the Ambassador’s meeting with representatives of the business sector and the Diaspora titled “Importance of the Diaspora in Economic Cooperation with Serbia: Opportunities and Challenges” was held at the Consulate-General, in cooperation with the Serbian-American Chamber of Commerce. In the discussions Ambassador Matkovic had with the officials of the State of Illinois, views were exchanged on further cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and Illinois, i.e. Belgrade and Chicago, two sister cities. |
