Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the identification of victims of Serbian nationality killed in the territory of Croatia in 1991-1995

logo ministarstvaThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia welcomes the successful continuation of the activities of the Commission on Missing Persons of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The Institute of Forensic Medicine and Criminology in Zagreb identified, on 1 April 2015, 14 sets of human remains of victims of Serbian nationality killed in the territory of Croatia in 1991-1995, who were exhumed in Slunj, Zadar, Gracac and on other locations.

Identification of victims was attended by members of their families and Croatian Defence Minister Predrag Matic.

Underlining the importance of victim identification, we assess this act as a confirmation of the commitment to enhance bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia.

A contribution to addressing and resolving outstanding issues from the past, as the function of improving bilateral relations between Serbia and Croatia, and developing mutually beneficial cooperation, will be made by the coming meeting of coordinators for open bilateral issues, Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Josko Klisovic and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Roksanda Nincic, in Belgrade.
