DRegarding the unacceptable statement made by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to the effect that “Albania and Kosovo will unite in the classical way if the EU does not open the European integration path to Kosovo”, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia sent a letter with relevant instructions to all missions of the Republic of Serbia to international organizations, Serbian Embassies to the Member States of the European Union, UN Security Council and the neighbouring countries.

The letter was sent to the President of the UN Security Council requesting that the letter be circulated as an official UN Security Council document.

“A protest note was delivered to the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Belgrade, underlining that the positions of the Albanian Prime Minister were unacceptable to Serbia, that the Albanian Prime Minister’s statement was yet another provocation coming from the highest political representatives of Albania, that it was detrimental to the bilateral relations between Serbia and Albania and jeopardized the overall relations and the stability in the region. The statement is a dangerous call for changing internationally recognized borders between the states of the region.

The statement of the Albanian Prime Minister is in contravention of the resolve of both Serbia and Albania, as expressed on several occasions, to develop their good-neighbourly relations, cooperation, mutual understanding and common future in the European Union.

The Republic of Serbia expects its partners in the international community to support the condemnation of the statement by the Albanian Prime Minister which is harmful to regional peace and stability”, said Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
