faremoFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Grete Faremo.

The Head of Serbian Diplomacy thanked UNOPS Director Faremo for the assistance and commitment in overcoming the consequences of last year’s floods.
“ The total value of UNOPS developed projects in Serbia since 2010 amounts to around EUR 65 million. UNOPS is assisting with floods rehabilitation projects worth EUR 25 million and the largest donors are EU IPA Funds, Norway, Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland and France”, Dacic said.
He also said that Faremo was going to visit Obrenovac tomorrow as well as other places where UNOPS projects were being developed, and he emphasized that Norway allocated EUR 4.5 million, through UNOPS, for the reconstruction of public buildings, houses and hospitals at 18 sites in Serbia, while the United Kingdom invested a million pounds in the flood protection system in the Kolubara river basin and in Lazarevac.
“We are working together with the Government on different projects and this cooperation has been going on for years. There are currently six projects worth more than EUR 45 million. We use international standards and local expertise which, combined, produce a good result”, Faremo said.
