First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia/ Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic had a series of bilateral meetings with his fellow Ministers of Foreign Affairs, on the first day of the visit to the United States.
Minister Dacic spoke yesterday with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, presiding over the UN Security Council for this month. Evoking the Summit held in Belgrade last December, the Ministers also discussed bilateral relations. He spoke with the Chinese Foreign Minister about the meeting of Chinese and Greek Prime Ministers. The Chinese Minister informed the Serbian Minister of infrastructure projects, with emphasis on the construction of a railway connecting Hungary, Serbia and Greece. “We talked about the economic cooperation defined at a meeting of the two Prime Ministers in Belgrade last year, and the Chinese Foreign Minister invited me to visit China this year”, said Minister Dacic. Minister Dacic talked with the Foreign Ministers of the countries that are now UNSC members. In the discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria Aminu Wali, it was pointed out the traditional friendly ties with that country and the importance of the Nigerian position of not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija. The Serbian Foreign Minister met yesterday with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela Delsi Rodriguez, whose position as the UN Security Council non- permanent member is most important for our country. “I spoke with Anifah Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia which recognized Kosovo’s UDI, causing a delay in the bilateral relations, but given its ASEAN Chairmanship this year, which is important for us because we want to develop economic ties with Asian countries, we have agreed to start developing relationships the way they were before its recognition of Kosovo’s UDI.” In his capacity as OSCE Chairman-in-Office Minister Dacic talked with UN Secretary- eneral Ban Ki-moon and the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and Ukraine Lavrov and Klimkin. During his visit to the United States, Minister Dacic will talk in the Congressional Helsinki Committee about Serbian OSCE Chairmanship’s priorities, and on Thursday he will have talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry |
