First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic visited the seat of the Danube Commission in Budapest, within his bilateral visit to Hungary.

The Minister met on the occasion with the senior officials of the Secretariat and representatives of the Danube Commission Member States. Economic and infrastructural potentials of the Danube for the whole of Europe were particularly highlighted in the talks.
The visit made to the Danube Commission is particularly important having in mind that Serbia holds, once again, the Presidency of the Danube Commission it took over in June 2014.
The Danube Commission came into existence as the Convention regarding the regime of navigation on the Danube was adopted; the Convention was agreed and approved at an international conference held in Belgrade on 18 August 1948. The “Belgrade Convention” constitutes even today the cornerstone document regulating this subject-matter and, at the same time, the major international instrument where Serbia serves as a depositary.
During his today’s visit to Hungary, the Serbian Foreign Minister also talked to the Speaker of the Parliament László Kövér and representatives of the Serbian minority in Hungary.
