First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, on the first day of his visit to the United States, met with senior officials of the US Administration and representatives of Congress and the Senate.
Minister Dacic talked with US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, Congressmen and members of the Congressional Serbian Caucus, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, and also with Senator Chris Murphy. "The meetings highlighted the US support to the Government of Serbia in the European integration process. The United States supports the manner in which Serbia chairs the OSCE and the efforts of the Government of Serbia to make Serbia a factor of regional stability and, in this respect, will continue to lend support to Serbia", said the Serbian Foreign Minister after the meeting, adding that the United States supported reforms in Serbia. “What we can be happy about is the fact that there are fewer and fewer open issues and problems facing our relations. I have invited Senators and Congressmen to come to Serbia, and I expect talks with the State Department in the coming weeks at the Munich Security Conference, and also with the Helsinki Committee of US Congress later this month." The Head of Serbian diplomacy will attend today the 63rd National Prayer Breakfast, while tomorrow he will participate in a meeting of the United Nations Security Council at which the UNMIK report will be discussed. On this occasion, Minister Dacic will meet with Secretary General of the world Organization Ban Ki-moon, but also the Chinese Ambassador who will chair the Security Council meeting. |
