First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had talks today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.
Expressing his satisfaction that Serbia was hosting the prime ministers summit, Minister Dacic underlined that this clearly demonstrated the importance of the strategic partnership between PR of China and the Republic of Serbia, contributed to its further strengthening, and that, by organizing this significant meeting, Serbia asserted itself as an increasingly important factor in the region. Serbian Foreign Minister underlined that Serbia attached great importance to the China-CEEC cooperation mechanism, particularly in the economic area, and that Serbia was interested in further deepening this type of cooperation and increasing Chinese investments in Serbia. Commending Serbia for the successful organization of the summit, Minister Yi expressed his satisfaction over the signing of significant agreements within the framework of China – CEEC cooperation mechanism. He emphasized that China attached particular importance to enhancing its cooperation with Serbia in all areas. Mutual satisfaction was expressed at the implementation of the Zemun – Borca bridge project and new agreements regarding the Belgrade – Budapest railway modernization project, as well as the Kostolac B project – phase 2. Minister Yi took the opportunity to thank Minister Dacic for his personal engagement in initiating the Belgrade – Budapest railway project, considering that the project had been agreed at the previous prime ministers summit in Bucharest. Minister Dacic informed his Chinese colleague of Serbia’s forthcoming OSCE Chairmanship on which Minister Yi congratulated him, expressing his conviction that Serbia would play an important role in this Organization. The Chinese Minister invited the Serbian Foreign Minister to visit China, which was accepted by the latter. The Ministers agreed during the talks that the relations between Serbia and China were characterized by traditional friendship, deep mutual understanding and trust, as well as mutual support concerning major issues of national interest. |
