The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia received an official confirmation today that the Turkish police took into custody seven people in connection with the murder of Serbian citizen Marko Ivkovic during the Red Star - Galatasaray basketball game in Istanbul last Friday.

The Turkish police informed the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Istanbul that there was sufficient evidence that the detained persons were associated with this criminal act, and that the case would be referred today to the public prosecutor for further action. The identity of the suspects will be disclosed in the coming days, in accordance with the procedure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia appreciates the dedicated work of the Turkish investigation authorities in this case so far, hoping that the judicial authorities of Turkey will have an equally professional approach, which would certainly contribute to our bilateral relations with this country.
