First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked today with Foreign Minister of Argentina Hector Timerman, on his two-day visit to the Republic of Argentina.
Agreements relating to scientific and technological cooperation and the cooperation in the field of culture were signed, and the signing of an agreement in the field of economy was agreed upon. Also, Ministers Dacic and Timerman agreed to hold consultations when participating in international forums, where Argentina and Serbia have common interests. Minister Dacic and Timerman agreed that Serbia and Argentina had similar views on the international situation and the international legal order, and that similar problems bind them when it comes to territorial integrity. The Ministers emphasized that Serbia and Argentina subscribed to equality in international relations as a fundamental principle of the international legal order. Emphasizing that Argentina is the eighth country in the world by area and the third largest economy in Latin and Central America, after Brazil and Mexico, Minister Dacic stressed that Argentina had achieved a major economic development in the last ten years and that for this reason its experience was of great importance to Serbia. The Minister added that the diplomatic relations between the two countries were established 85 years ago and that these relations should be deepened and developed further. Minister Timerman accepted the invitation of the Serbian Foreign Minister to visit Serbia and expressed hope that the visit would be realized in the first half of 2015. The special significance of this visit as seen by the interlocutors, lies in the fact that this will be the first visit of a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina after three decades. On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina expressed his belief that Argentina would not change its position on Kosovo. |
