MJANMARSecretary General of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Veljko Odalovic received today a delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, headed by U Khin Maung Soe, Union Minister of Electric Power.
Friendly ties between the two countries, which boast over six decades-long tradition, were highlighted in the talks.
Secretary General Odalovic particularly underscored Myanmar’s principled position as regards non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and voiced his expectation that the Government of Myanmar would continue to support Serbian efforts aimed at reaching an acceptable solution in the dialogue with Pristina, along with the preservation of territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
The high-level Myanmar delegation was conveyed Serbian interest in enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in numerous fields, and primarily in areas of economy and energy.
The Myanmar delegation reaffirmed its interest in the intensification of cooperation with Serbia in several areas, particularly in the hydro power sector. During their stay in Serbia, the guest from Myanmar will visit Djerdap hydro-electric power station.
