konsultacije2Political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Serbia and China were held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Secretary General Veljko Odalovic and Deputy Foreign Minister Wang Chao.

The two sides noted the existence of a long tradition of friendly relations between Serbia and China, characterized by mutual understanding and trust as well as support concerning most important issues of national interest for both countries. They emphasized the importance of political dialogue both on high and top levels and of conducting regular political consultations.

Views on the main aspects of cooperation between the two countries, such as political and economic relations, infrastructure and energy projects in Serbia, cultural cooperation, cooperation within international organizations, regional issues (regional policy of Serbia and the situation in Eastern Asia), Serbia's EU integration process and other relevant international issues - were exchanged during the consultations.

The significance of strengthening cooperation in all areas was confirmed by both sides, particularly in the field of economy as well as cooperation within the China-CEEC mechanism and realization of concrete joint projects. Particular emphasis was placed on the forthcoming Summit of Heads of Governments of China and CEEC countries to be held in Belgrade in December.
