Dacic - McAllisterFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic and European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister assessed in today's talks that there was a high level of cooperation between Serbia and the European Parliament.

Minister Dacic congratulated McAllister on his appointment as Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Serbia, pointing to the great importance Serbia attached to cooperation with EU institutions, the European Parliament in particular.

FDPM and MFA Ivica Dacic underscored the significance of cooperation between Serbia and Germany at all levels and in all areas, expressing at the same time the expectation that EU enlargement would continue to dominate the agendas of the new European Parliament and the new European Commission.

Minister Dacic was pleased that Serbia and Germany would work together in the new OSCE Troika of Chairs, saying that Serbia had become a more credible and more predictable partner to Germany and, therefore, to the European Union as well.

EP Rapporteur for Serbia McAllister said that he hoped Serbia would soon join the EU, as well as that he wished to encourage the reform efforts in Serbia, not only when it comes to the domestic legislation and the internal situation but also in terms of the reconciliation process in the region of the Western Balkans as a whole.

Rapporteur McAllister said that the Commission would complete its report on Serbia in January 2015 and that he hoped the report would be approved with an overwhelming support in March 2015.
