The jury met today at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow and chose the best design for wall paintings of the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade.

The project is a partnership project between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The Serbian-Russian jury is co-chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic and Metropolitan Hilarion, Head of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for external church relations.

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has entrusted the organization of competition to the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, and after making the decision on the project, specific preparations will be made ahead of the project implementation. Most of the work will be done by the Russian side, with the participation of the Serbian artists and possible engagement of foreign experts in mosaic art.

It is planned that the project of an estimated value of around EUR 30 million, will be completed in seven to eight years.

Minister Dacic and Metropolitan Hilarion said today that it was a capital project, important not only for the Serbian Church and the Serbian people, but for the whole Orthodox Christian world.
