Explanatory Screening for Chapter 31 held in Brussels

EU-zastavaExplanatory screening for Chapter 31 (foreign, security and defence policy) was held in Brussels yesterday, thus opening the process of analytical overview of legislation in this area.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates the activities related to Negotiating Group 31, whose representatives took part in the screening meeting, together with representatives of other institutions of the Republic of Serbia. Apart from the representatives of the European Commission and the European External Action Service, the meeting was attended by representatives of 20 EU Member States.

The Republic of Serbia has so far launched the analytical overview of legislation for 21 chapters in total. It is expected that the analysis of the harmonization of legislation of Serbia with the EU countries in all 35 chapters be completed by March 2015.

Representatives of the European Commission have pointed out that they are pleased with the analysis of the harmonization of legislation of Serbia with the EU countries, assessing that the Serbian administration has shown a high level of readiness and dedication to the EU integration process, and the reforms.
