First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic expressed his deepest and sincerest condolences to the family of Dobrica Cosic following his passing.

"Dobrica Cosic was the intellectual power of the Serbian nation, one of our greatest writers, both a partisan guerrilla fighter and a Serb, both a communist and a democrat, both an ordinary man and a statesman", Dacic said.

He added, alluding to his literary works, that Cosic explained why the sun was far away, which, in fact, were our roots, warned of the divisions, described the times of death and evil, was a sinner, a renegade and a believer.

"He advocated change, realized the time of power and that of serpents as well, understood Kosovo, studied the Serbian question in the twentieth century, wondered what provoked the war in Bosnia", added Dacic.

He also pointed out that Cosic's advice to him was always precious guidance in public politics.
"I offer my deepest condolences to the family of Dobrica Cosic. Deepest condolences to Serbia, too", Dacic says in his message of condolence.
