The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Kyiv is in a daily contact with Serbian nationals staying in Donetsk and Lugansk, Ukraine. Around eighty students and athletes are staying in this area, and the Embassy is taking part in the preparations for the return of students attending the Music Academy in Lugansk.

39 out of 47 students staying in Lugansk, accompanied by the officials of the Serbian Embassy, will head to Kyiv by train, on 22 April, from where they will continue their journey to Belgrade. Eight final year students will stay in Lugansk, and the Embassy, in cooperation and coordination with the Rector's Office, endeavours to provide conditions for them to complete their studies as soon as possible, in order to come back home with the degree from this prestigious Academy.

The Serbian Embassy in Kyiv has previously contacted the line Ministry in Ukraine and the international schools attended by Serbian students, with a request that the academic year be officially shortened and the students could return to their homes.

According to the Embassy, the number of Serbian nationals staying in Ukraine has dropped from around 800 (the number before the latest developments) to around 400, of whom 150 are staying in areas affected by riots.

According to the information available to the Embassy, Serbian nationals have not experienced any inconvenience so far. The building contractors working for years in Donetsk will not leave Ukraine for the time being, Bulatovic said in his interview for Politika, which may be read here.
