European CommissionMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic will take part in the Athens meeting of the Foreign Ministers of EU Member States and candidate countries for EU membership, scheduled for 5 April.

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy will host this informal meeting, and the topics will include the integration process of candidate countries for EU membership, the Eastern Partnership and Southern Neighborhood.

At the same time, this will be an opportunity for Minister Mrkic to hold numerous bilateral meetings with EU Member States' Foreign Ministers, on the fringes of the gathering.

Minister Mrkic's participation in the Athens meeting comes as yet another in a series of meetings pointing to the enhanced dynamic of the relations with the EU since Serbia opened its EU accession negotiations. Moreover, this represents a confirmation of the partner relations and continued dialogue at all levels.

It is recalled that Minister Mrkic took part at a working dinner in February, hosted by Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
