Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic received today the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia, Zhang Wanxue.

The talks confirmed the interest of both sides in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and it was assessed that the mutual relations were characterized by traditional friendship, confidence and support of the two countries on major issues of national interest.

A special segment of the talks was devoted to intensifying cooperation between them within the mechanism of cooperation between China and sixteen countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Minister Mrkic positively assessed the progress made in the economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors, expressing his expectation, at the same time, that Chinese companies would increase their investments in Serbia.

Ambassador Zhang underlined that China attached great attention to intensifying its cooperation with Serbia in all areas and that there was considerable interest on the part of large Chinese companies to approach the market of the Republic of Serbia through energy and transport infrastructural projects.
