African Union Summit Begins in Addis Ababa

Ivan MrkicMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic had talks today with a number of officials and participants of the Summit of the African Union, in Addis Ababa.

On the fringes of the two-day Summit, which started today in the Ethiopian capital, Minister Mrkic had bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Angola, Ivory Coast and Senegal. He also met with the head of the New Zealand delegation and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

Minister Mrkic met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Somalia and Libya, yesterday.

They discussed topics including cooperation in the fields of education, agriculture and security measures, and recalled the traditionally good relations between Serbia and these African countries. The issues of specific economic cooperation were also initiated in all the meetings.

Minister Mrkic will meet with Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission Erastus Mwencha tomorrow, in order to discuss the Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the African Union.
