Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic received today the President and the Vice President of the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dragan Stanojevic and Zvonimir Jovanovic. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dr. Slavka Draskovic.

The discussion focused to the need of presenting the Action plan and the strategy of cooperation with the Diaspora in more specific terms, which would contribute to the further strengthening of the ties between the homeland and the Diaspora, and the enhancement of Serbia's economy.

The representatives of the Serbian Diaspora expressed their interest in the amendment of the regulations governing their status, including the possibility of their direct representation in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. The meeting devoted particular attention to the status position of Serbs in the region, primarily in Croatia.
