Milunka SavicThe mortal remains of Milunka Savic, a Serbian heroine of the Balkan Wars and the First World War, were transferred to the "Aleja Velikana" cemetery section with tombstones of prominent personalities, where wreaths were laid with highest military and state honours. Commemoration and memorial service were attended by President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, Ministers Nebojsa Rodic, Ivan Mrkic, Velimir Ilic, Tomislav Jovanovic, Aleksandar Antic and Milan Bacevic, Vice President of the National Assembly Konstantin Arsenovic, Deputy President of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade Zoran Alimpic, Chief of Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic, Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar, representatives of the diplomatic and military corps of 19 countries, and many others.

Milunka Savic died on 5 October 1973. Her remains were transferred from her family grave to "Aleja Velikana" 40 years after her death, at the initiative of the Serbian Historical Museum, with the assistance of her descendents, the City of Belgrade, City Institute for Cultural Monument Protection, Serbian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Defence, under the auspices of the President of Serbia.
