Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajcak agreed during their meeting in Belgrade that the relations between the two countries were very good which, they said, was reflected in the intensity of the meetings between Serbian and Slovak officials.
They underlined that their continued contacts demonstrated that there were absolutely no problems in the bilateral relations between the two countries. The two Ministers assessed that the decades of friendship that Serbia and Slovakia had been tied by constituted a foundation for their common future in the EU. Lajcak positively assessed the developments in Serbia, emphasizing that Slovakia had always strongly supported Serbia in its European integration process and that it would continue to do so in the future, as well. The Slovak Foreign Minister said that his country would provide Serbia all the necessary assistance on its EU integration path by sharing its own experiences. Mrkic informed his Slovak colleague of all current bilateral issues, as well as the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, including the preparations for local elections in Kosovo and Metohija on 3 November.
