zastava egiptaWith regards to the latest developments related to the security situation in Egypt, where a state of emergency was declared on Thursday 14 August, based on the information provided by the Serbian Embassy in Cairo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cautions Serbian nationals who are on vacation in the Egyptian resorts that the 7 PM- to- 6 AM curfew imposed by the Egyptian government, also applies to tourists. Therefore, we appeal to tourists from Serbia, some 700 of them in Hurghada, not to leave their hotel complex at that time. In addition, our strong recommendation that our nationals be cautious in public places, to avoid all rallies, even if they seem non-violent and not to travel to the big cities, is still relevant. Special caution is advised on Fridays, after prayers. Due to the precarious nature of the situation, we continue to advise our citizens intending to travel to Egypt to desist from it.

Serbian nationals are currently well and safe, and no one has approached the Serbian Embassy requesting any type of emergency assistance as a result of the latest developments in Egypt.

The Serbian Embassy in Cairo is available 24 hours and is constantly in contact with our holiday makers, as well as the Egyptian authorities, closely monitoring the situation throughout Egypt, especially in tourist areas where our tourists are most concentrated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgrade formed a crisis staff which is in permanent session and focused on assessing the politico-security situation in Egypt.

The Serbian Embassy in Cairo hotlines are +2022736-5494, +2022735-4061
Telephone number of Consul Miroslav Mitrovic: +201222248114.

The Ministry will continue to inform the public on the latest developments and security aspects regarding the stay of our nationals in Egypt.
