On the occasion of the official presentation of the gold medal of merit and certificate whereby President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic decorated Indian national Mr. S.S.Chaman, a reception was held at the Ambassador's residence on Friday, 5 July.

The reception was attended by some 40 guests from the Indian political, public, cultural life, academic circles, institutions and the media, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India. In addition to Rahul Chhabra, Indian MFA Joint Secretary for Central Europe, the event was also attended by four former India's ambassadors to Belgrade, Nengcha Lhouvum, now dean of the Foreign Relations Institute of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Aja Swamp, S.K.Mathur and N.N. Jha.

Ambassador Jovan Mirilović opened the ceremony with a welcome speech, then read the presidential decree on awarding the gold medal of merit for public and cultural activities, after which the Ambassador, as Personal Representative of the President of the Republic, formally presented the medal and certificate to Mr. S.S. Chaman. Mr. Chaman expressed gratitude for the awarded decoration and honour bestowed upon him. He reaffirmed his friendship towards our country and expressed the willingness and intention to continue working to strengthen and further develop multiple links between our two peoples.
