MinistryThe citizens of Serbia who are on vacation in the Egyptian resorts are well and safe. There are around 1,600 tourists and 48 Serbian nationals legally residing in Egypt. The tourist authorities of Egypt informed the Embassy that there are no obstacles preventing tourists from enjoying their holidays in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh. No one has approached the Serbian Embassy in Cairo requesting help or notifying that he/she is in some trouble as a result of the situation in Egypt. Due to the precarious nature of the situation, we continue to advise our citizens intending to travel to Egypt to desist from it. Those who are already on vacation are recommended caution, avoiding all places where people are gathering, even those places that seem peaceful. Special caution is recommended on Fridays, therefore today, after noon prayers. In addition, it is not recommended to carry video cameras, cameras and cell phones in public places. Recommendations on avoiding travel to or visiting large cities is also still relevant.

The Serbian Embassy in Cairo is available 24 hours to our holiday makers. It is closely monitoring the situation throughout Egypt, especially in tourist areas where our tourists are most concentrated: in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, and in major cities: Cairo and Alexandria.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgrade formed a crisis staff which is in permanent session and focused on assessing the security situation in Egypt.
