BeijingThe Second Session of the Joint Serbia-China Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation was held in Beijing, on 25 June 2013. The delegation of the Republic of Serbia visiting China from 24-28 June 2013 was headed by Prof. Dr. Radivoje Mitrovic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (MESTD) of the Republic of Serbia, and the delegation of the People's Republic of China was headed by Cao Jianlin, Vice Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) of PR China. The Serbian delegation included Svetlana Bogdanovic, MA, Senior Adviser at the Serbian MESTD and Serbian Secretary of the Joint Committee. The Serbian Embassy in Beijing was represented by Charge d'Affaires Tatjana Panajotovic Cvetkovic, Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs Zoran Djordjevic, and Third Secretary Mirko Kuzmanovic. The Chinese delegation, in addition to Vice Minister Cao Jianlin, included Ma Linjing, Deputy Director of the Department for International Cooperation of the Chinese MST, Sun Jian. Director of the EurAsia Division of the Department for International Cooperation of the Chinese MST, Mrs. Gu Min, Project Analyst of the Chinese MST and Secretary of the Joint Committee, and Xue Qinzhao, First Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.
Vice Minister of Science and Technology of PR China Cao Jianlin bid welcome to the Serbian delegation and reminded of the first session of the Joint Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation held in Belgrade in 2011, when by formulating cooperation projects, a new impetus was given to the relations between the two countries in this area.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (MESTD) of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr. Radivoje Mitrovic expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and satisfaction at the successful implementation of the 12 projects that were defined during the previous session of the Committee. He emphasized that Serbia saw cooperation with China as one of its four key priorities, and accordingly wished to add new content to educational, scientific and technological cooperation.
Chinese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Cao Jianlin stressed that China had a particularly good relationship with Serbia, with which it shared similar historical experiences. At the end of the JC session, he put forward a proposal that China received the visit of a delegation of the Serbian Government, which would be composed of representatives of the Serbian Government and experts in the fields of science and technology. This delegation would visit China's largest scientific research centers and technological parks. The Serbian delegation welcomed the proposal and said that such a visit would improve the quality and scope of our cooperation.
