Mrkic - PusicMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic received on an official visit Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Vesna Pusic. Mrkic and Pusic discussed issues related to the common future of Serbia and Croatia, and how to address certain areas of cooperation following Croatia's accession to full membership of the European Union. Since Croatia will be present at the ministerial and the highest levels when Serbia's EU integration will be discussed in Brussels, the Croatian Foreign Minister said that her country would unambiguously support Serbia. Mrkic stated that, at all times, neighbourly support had been more important and more effective than the support coming from a greater distance. He further emphasized that it was clear to everyone in Serbia that the fact that Croatia had come to demonstrate its support to Serbia only a few days prior to the adoption of important decisions, was of particular importance and that the leadership of our country highly appreciated and respected such action. Mrkic and Pusic voiced their particular pleasure because, in the days of Croatia's celebration of its EU membership in Zagreb, Serbia would be represented at the highest possible level. Foreign Ministers of Serbia and Croatia also discussed the inherited problems that both countries had been dealing with on a step-by-step basis.
