Laying of wreaths on Heroes Day, in Timisoara

dan-heroja-temisvarTimis County Prefecture organized today, at the Heroes Cemetery in Timisoara, a ceremony with high state, military and religious honours, where a wreath saying "To our glorious ancestors – Serbian Consulate General" was laid at the Monument to Yugoslav pilots killed in the war of April 1941, by the Serbian Consul General, Timis County Prefect Mr. Eugen Dogariu, Vice President of the County Council Marian Mr. Vasile, representatives of the City of Timisoara and the Romanian Army.

Heroes Day was marked by a massive official ceremony organized by the Prefecture and the Timisoara Garrison. At the opening, with the marching guard of honour and military music, the highest Romanian local authorities and the consular corps laid wreaths at the Monument of Crucifixion in the centre of Timisoara. Further on during the ceremony, wreaths were laid at the aforementioned Heroes Cemetery - at the Monument to the Romanian Heroes of the December 1989 Revolution, as well as the monuments to Serbian (fallen Yugoslav airmen), Romanian, Soviet, German and French soldiers killed in First and Second World Wars.
