Mrkic - LajcakDuring their meeting in Belgrade, Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic exchanged information on all issues relevant to Serbia at this juncture. Lajcak familiarized Mrkic with the views prevailing in the EU regarding the expected decision on the date for the start of negotiations and stated that Slovakia supported the initiation of Serbia's accession talks with the EU.

Both Lajcak and Mrkic concluded that the European Union is predominantly optimistic about this matter, which has been confirmed by the existence of abundant proofs in favor of Serbia as a result of its decisions and the conduct of its leadership. During the talks, Lajcak expressed great respect for everything that Serbia had done with regard to internal reforms and in the foreign policy area.

They also discussed the upcoming regional summit to be held in Bratislava from 12-13 June 2013, to be attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.
