Mrkic - SisulitMinister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivan Mrkic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Thongloun Sisoulit signed in Belgrade the Agreement on Cooperation in the Fields of Culture and Education and the Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Diplomatic and Service Passports.
At the press conference, Mrkic and Sisoulit assessed that the two countries were tied by traditional and long-lasting friendship and announced further strengthening of the relations in the future.
"I would like to thank Laos for its support to Serbia in terms of its position on Kosovo and Metohija. Laos is a country steadily honouring international law and supporting Serbia along those lines, for which we are truly grateful", Mrkic stated.
Recalling that Laos has the highest economic growth in that part of the world and that its development is intensive, Mrkic said that Serbia was seeking possibilities to participate in that development.
The two statesmen assessed that the signing of the two agreements, as well as the preparation of new ones – on the protection and promotion of investments, as well as on the avoidance of double taxation - constitute the foundations for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
Sisoulit further announced strengthening of cooperation in the area of tourism which will, as he said, encourage the establishment of contacts between the citizens of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, who arrived in Serbia as head of a numerous delegation, will be received, tomorrow, by President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and others.
Sisoulit said that he would convey to Nikolic the invitation to visit Vientiane, extended by President of Laos Choummali Saignason.
