The festival of the Serbian film was opened in Havana on 10 May by the movie "The Trap" by Srdjan Golubovic, organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba. 
The representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Institute for friendship with people, and of other governmental institutions, members of the diplomatic corps and journalists attended the inauguration of the week of the Serbian film.
The event was opened by Jelena Zivojinovic, Second Secretary of the Embassy. In a short address she pointed out the characteristics of the new Serbian film – its commitment to the continuation of the Yugoslav film tradition, strong attachment to the genre and story-telling, radical aesthetics and portrayal of a social situation.
Movie "The Trap" was very well received by audiences and critics.
The Cuban Film Institute has shown an interest in showing the Serbian film in some of the Cuban provinces.
