Marking the 68th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp prisoners in Upper Austria

On 11 May 2013, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Salzburg Vladimir Novakovic, accompanied by Consul Olivera Starcevic, members of the Association of camp prisoners, their descendants and admirers from Belgrade, visited the former Nazi death camp Ebensee, where they paid tribute to the victims. On the same date, they visited Gusen concentration camp, where there was a official commemoration ceremony organized by the Gusen Memorial Committee which was attended by a number of foreign delegations.

On Sunday, 12 May, Consul General Novakovic together with the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, headed by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Negovan Stankovic, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Vienna, attended a memorial service at the monument to the Yugoslav victims in Mauthausen and participated in the formal procession and wreath laying at the central monument in memory of all Mauthausen concentration camp victims. The delegation also attended the honouring and laying of the wreath at the central monument at the war cemetery in the village of Mauthausen, where the captured Serbian soldiers from the First World War were buried.
