zastaveMinister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivan Mrkic stated that the implementation of the Brussels agreement between Belgrade and Pristina was a complex process which could not be implemented by force and expressed his conviction that the agreement's implementation would be accelerated as soon as Kosovo Serbs come to understand its essence.

"As soon as they come to realize, after a while, that they will essentially remain where they are, living on their own land, that they will be able to plan their future and that there are instruments to ensure that, the implementation will then be accelerated," Mrkic said.

One could not expect the image to be changed over night and that anyone accustomed to something completely different would accept it right away, stated Minister Mrkic in his interview to the Anadolu news agency.
When asked whether there could be problems in northern Kosovo, including security ones, Mrkic said that there would always be problems, but that they could be overcome.
"We will endeavour to overcome them simply through a good, clever and sound approach", underlined head of the Serbian diplomacy.

Asked to comment on the echoes of the recent apology made by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic for crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrkic said that it would be inappropriate to look for political messages in these statements.

"I understood the statements made by my President as an expression of his own feelings; statements by a person who spoke honestly about how he felt", he said.
Head of the Serbian diplomacy assessed that the relations in the region had never been better since the dissolution of the former Yugoslavia.

In his words, these relations were patiently being built, they were realistic and based on the understanding that all countries were in need of cooperating with one another.
"We are all dependent on and must rely on each other", Mrkic said.

Speaking about the upcoming trilateral meeting between the Presidents of Turkey, BiH and Serbia to be held on 14-15 May, in Ankara, the Minister said that this meeting would not be a simple "manifestation", but a meaningful meeting that would sent out "positive messages."
