Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic said that, even after Belgrade and Pristina reached agreement in Brussels, Kosovo would not be able to join international organizations such as the OSCE and the Council of Europe, but only regional organizations.
In a statement to "Vecernje Novosti", Mrkic explained that Kosovo and Metohija could participate solely in regional organizations with the use of the compulsory footnote in the documents adopted at their meetings, without prejudice to its status. "The Agreement we reached with Pristina is not related in any way to the membership of the Pristina authorities in the OSCE or the Council of Europe. We have long been aware of Pristina's wish to join these organizations, but also of its awareness that this could not be achieved without reaching final agreement over the status of our southern province", said Mrkic. |
