Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic visits Montenegro

Mrkic - LuksicForeign Minister Ivan Mrkic met today in Podgorica, at the start of his one-day official visit to Montenegro, with the Montenegrin Foreign Minister Igor Luksic.
"Montenegro and Serbia are dedicated to developing the best mutual relations; the two countries are joined together by a common goal of European integration", said today in Podgorica, the two Foreign Ministers Igor Luksic and Ivan Mrkic, who signed an agreement on consular cooperation.
Foreign Ministers Luksic and Mrkic said that the agreement on consular cooperation established the normative and legal framework of bilateral cooperation in the consular area in order to effectively and fully protect the rights and interests of the citizens both of Montenegro and Serbia. They pointed out that the two countries were committed to improving relations in all areas of mutual interest.
"Montenegro and Serbia are dedicated to developing the best possible relations, both at bilateral level and in the context of the integration process," said Luksic. In his words the European future of the countries in the region is a strong impetus for the development and stability of Montenegro and Serbia.
Luksic pointed out that Montenegro and Serbia have a high potential for cooperation in the economic field, and the two countries have opted for jointly combating crime and corruption.
Minister Mrkic said that Serbia and Montenegro had good cooperation and that they were strengthening their relations in all directions.
"This closeness is the reflection of the past, but also of the future as we are both committed to joining the European Union. Our strategic goals are practically identical. We want to develop a kind of cooperation that will lead both countries to the same goal - European integration."
Mrkic said that there was a wide scope for economic cooperation between the two countries, which should be used to the benefit of both Serbia and Montenegro.
He expressed his hope that Minister Luksic would come to Belgrade soon.
"We are looking forward to seeing you in Belgrade and to entering into further agreements that will strengthen the relations between our two peoples and countries," said Mrkic.
Foreign Minister Mrkic met today with the Speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament Ranko Krivokapic. Mrkić and Krivokapic assessed that the economic relations between the two countries had a large potential for further development. They also expressed their satisfaction with the development of interstate relations and stressed the importance of further developing mutual trust between Montenegro and Serbia.
Both sides agreed that the economic relations between the two countries had a large potential for further development and in this context they discussed the construction of Bar-Boljari highway, as a project of mutual interest.
Krivokapic and Mrkic pointed out the importance of stronger cooperation in strengthening the regional integration framework.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, during his one-day visit to Montenegro, will also meet with the Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic and Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.
