Vilnius: Agreement on cooperation in the context of European Integration signed by the Governments of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Lithuania

Ivan MrkicThe Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkić signed in Vilnius, with his Lithuanian colleague Linus Linkevičius, an agreement on cooperation in the context of European integration.
The Agreement states that the two countries will further strengthen the mutual cooperation between state authorities and institutions, through regular consultations, in order to assist the Republic of Serbia on its European path through sharing experiences and expertise related to the implementation of EU policies, including the Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2013.

This cooperation would, among other things, included:

1. training programs and seminars for civil servants of the state institutions of the Republic of Serbia;
2. technical assistance aimed at the development of institutional infrastructure in the public sector;
3. visits for the purpose of training;
4. exchange of experts.

The mentioned areas of cooperation will be focused on the issues of importance for the process of integration of the Republic of Serbia into the European Union. Serbia and Lithuania will consider the possibilities of funding the activities envisaged under this memorandum using the mechanisms of institutional cooperation and EU funding available. Both countries have agreed to further cooperate in the development of specific "Twinning" projects to build the capacity necessary for the European integration of the Republic of Serbia.
