The Government of the Republic of Serbia, at the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has adopted a decision to establish diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on resident basis, at a meeting held on 4 February 2013.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the only Arab country with which the Republic of Serbia has never had diplomatic relations.

The establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Riyadh will give impetus to the development of mutual political and economic relations, the intensification of political dialogue and building of mutual trust.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is undoubtedly one of the most influential leaders in the Arab and Islamic worlds, being very active in global and regional international organizations.

The establishment of diplomatic relations on a resident basis will definitely open up opportunities for economic cooperation, bearing in mind the very positive experiences of the Republic of Serbia with other Arab countries.
