Thessaloniki, May 2012 - At the 9th International Book Fair in Thessaloniki, 24-27 May 2012, Serbia was an honour guest. Serbian Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic attended the official opening of the Fair. The Serbian stand presented the greats of Serbian literature and Serbian national epic and lyrical ballads, whilst Serbian folk fairytales were interpreted by a Greek actress at the Byzantine Museum. Presentation of Serbia was followed by a number of other events: an exhibition "Ivo Andric, a writer and/or diplomat" staged by the Belgrade City Museum with a public hearing on the same subject; a workshop on Serbian literature; presentation of the Greek translation of the book "Philosophic downfalls of the illustrious Justin Popovic" published by the Endowment of St. Chilandari Monastery; presentation of the Greek translation of the book entitled "Death is an unverified rumour" in the presence of its author Emir Kusturica, which was the overall best attended event of this year's Fair. Throughout the Fair there were discussions organized by the Serbian stand with Serbian authors like Dusan Kovacevic, Vida Ognjenovic, Dragan Velikic, Vladislav Bajec, Svetislav Basara and others.
