Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic met today with the German Foreign Ministry Special Envoy for South Eastern Europe Nikolaus Graf Lambsdorff.

Bilateral relations and further progress on Serbia's road towards the EU figured as the main issues on the agenda of their today's talks.

Mr. Lambsdorff emphasised that no new conditions would be attached for Serbia's EU membership but that we should simply get down to the business of meeting the existing requirements.

Minister Mrkic pointed out that the Serbian Government was fully committed to becoming a full-fledged member of the European Union and said that he expected the contacts between Brussels and Belgrade to intensify in the near future.

The two delegations agreed to have more frequent contacts at all levels in the coming months.
