 When we arrived for the interview, Minister Dacic has just finished his telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, and on Thursday he heard from the Russian Minister Lavrov. We ask him straightaway whether we, as the future OSCE Chairman, are going to, nevertheless, impose sanctions on Russia.
“Oh, that is out of the question! The OSCE is concerned about European security and cooperation and does not impose sanctions. Serbia as a candidate for EU membership only has an obligation to harmonize its foreign policy with the European one. Since we are not a member, it means that we ourselves have to institute sanctions against Russia, which is not realistic. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine invited me to visit before we take over the Chairmanship and Lavrov is expecting me to come to Moscow on December 19 to talk about the role of the OSCE.”

 "EU membership is one of our foremost strategic goals, which we have clearly defined", said the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić to the well-known Berlin Tagesspiegel daily newspaper adding that „Russia has never put pressure on us, because we have always made it clear that EU membership will not jeopardize our friendship with Moscow".

"Serbia does not wish to take part in any war, including a cold war," wrote First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic in an author's text to "Nedeljnik". He added that our country stands ready "always to put its experiences in the service of peace and to assist in finding a compromise solution to any conflict, even the ongoing one in Ukraine". For this reason, Serbia "insists on dialogue and compromise in addressing all world crises" and it will continue to act this way also as Chair of the OSCE, next year".

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be reformed, because our diplomats must not only be much more active in improving the political relations with other countries, but also to be able to help attract investments in order to boost our economy. We will therefore set up a special sector in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deal with the economy, that is, to find ways and means to have this Ministry also participate in encouraging investments, said Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs speaking to "Politika".
