Minister Selakovic: Promoting relations in the region through the strengthening of economic cooperation

In a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turkovic Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic said that Serbia is consistently committed to the strengthening of regional cooperation, including the realization of "mini-Schengen" initiative.

In the meeting held in Antalya, on the fringes of the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) participants, Minister Selakovic noted that joint economic development would lead to the relaxation and resolution of political issues in the region.

The Serbian Foreign Minister said that Serbia, as a signatory and guarantor of the Dayton Accords, had an interest to strengthen peace and stability in the region, including economic development of this part of Europe.

The collocutors noted the necessity to find the strength to overcome disagreements from the past and focus more on the future instead, while intensifying cooperation and joint performance on third markets. Minister Selakovic voiced hope that the "mini-Schengen" initiative will soon become functional in its full format.

In the meeting, Ministers Selakovic and Turkovic also discussed the opening of a Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Novi Pazar and exchanged invitations for official visits in the period ahead.
